Lots of schools around the world use school uniforms, but is it really a good or bad idea?
According to David L. Brunsma, “as many as 27 percent of all public elementary schools by the year 2000 had some sort of uniform policy in place” (Viadero).The reason the percent of public schools using school uniforms is going up rapidly is because kids are getting bullied for what they wear, students cause fights over clothes, and some students are too distracted about what other kids think, that they can't focus on their schoolwork.
Blue Valley should implement a school uniform policy because it will reduce bullying, it’s less stressful for parents and students, and it helps kids focus on schoolwork. School uniforms reduce bullying tremendously. This is because if all students wear the same thing, then no one will stand out as having cheap or expensive clothes. Many parents around the world can’t afford many outfits for their kids, so just having to buy 1 outfit for their kid is much easier for them, ProCon.org states, “Parents can reduce their financial burden when their children are limited to wearing one simple outfit every day” ("Should Students"). Parents also don't have to worry about their kids changing into less-appropriate clothes once they arrive at school.
