Punishable Cyberbullying
Should cyberbullies be charged with a federal crime for online bullying? Many people today have, and will be affected from cyberbullying. As a matter of fact, the effect of cyberbullying has taken a toll on people, physically and mentally. However, creating a law to stop cyberbullying, could prevent the terrible problems for the victims of cyberbullying. But what’s the cost of creating the law? With cyberbullying, it is more difficult to avoid online. People can easily stalk, harass, as well as embarrass someone. The senators think that the New York citizens should be criminally punished for cyberbullying. We as a group think that this should happen for many reasons. People may be scarred for life, and the people cyberbullying need to know to stop. People that affected might do something bad like shoot a school down because of cyberbullying, and it was all because of the cyberbully.
In the advancement of technology more and more people have been cyberbullied. According to psychologist Eden Foster “1 in 3 teenagers admitted to being the victim of cyberbullying in 2006”. Cyberbullying can also lead to kids physically getting injured. With all the advancements of technology, many people have been affected in negative and positive ways. Even though punishing people for cyberbullying seems right, it may not be. In today's world, Adults know what to do with technology more than what their kids know what to do with it. Most cyberbullies are kids that hurt people’s feelings to get attention, or they are upset, so they take it out on other people online.
