In their work, "Should Everyone Go to College?," they review data gathered to observe the alterations a degree earns for those seeking to exceed. The authors introduce their piece by stating, "[to tell] all young people that they should go to college no matter what, we are actually doing some of them a disservice". They continue exclaiming, "the cost of college matters as well: the more someone has to pay to attend, the lower the net benefit of attending" (209-210). As hoped by many students, earning a higher education and degree will amount to a higher earned revenue. That may be the case for many graduates, but for some artists, they instead are met with loans looming over their shoulder without a stable job.…show more content… They add, "With tuitions rising faster than family incomes, the typical college student is now more dependent than in the past on loans" (212). Occasionally, when a student wishes to go to the more expensive school, they will acquire the necessary allowance to follow their dreams. For art students, when tuition costs can rise to a hefty amount, it can be a dangerous gamble when one wants to work solely as an independent artist, only receiving payment by commission between gradual periods.
