Thousands of people are incarcerated yearly, these people who have to spend part of their life behind bars for felonies they committed lose their right to vote, as well as people who are on parole yet they regain their voting right two years after their sentence completion unless their felony was of turpitude behavior. Felons demonstrated a clear lack of good judgement and do not deserve to be able to vote while doing their time, neither they should be able to vote after completing their sentence. After doing their time, felons should be able to have the chance to regain the possibility of an ordinary life, although their suffrage right should be revoked permanently for the rest of their lives.

Felonies are bigger crimes, more offensive and harmful than petty crimes. Children and mentally-ill people are not confined the right to vote due to the lack of responsibility and therefore they are not trusted of voting in an orderly manner. Felons evidence themselves their lack of this characteristics the moment they start acting against the Constitution. When someone commits a felony he or she is acting not only against the laws the rest abide of, but against an entire civilization, and there is always the possibility that a felon could attend his or her illegal activities all over again after the two year probation they are given after their release from prison.

Criminals need to understand actions have consequences and no one shall be an exception. Prison is meant to be a punishment for people who were involved in illegitimate activities, this resulting in the temporarily abolishment of their freedom and democratic rights.
