Silent Spring and Kingsman: The Secret Service
Earth, is the planet that is inhabited by humans and many other creatures, however, while it is home to many species, it is being destroyed because of one specific species that lives in it. The novel Silent Spring and the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service, both show how humans are damaging the environment; however, as one suggests it is the actions of humans that is damaging nature, it is the very nature of human beings that is responsible. Humans constantly create weapons that get deadlier as time goes on, they are ignorant and refuse to believe anything unless they see the consequences at its worst and they possess an avarice to the point where they do not mind destroying …show more content…
Despite how many dangerous animals there are in the world, none of them are more deleterious than a human being. We have been made to create some of the deadliest weapons ever known to Earth, including hydrogen bombs, atomic bombs, guns, knives, explosives, tanks, etc. Humans will always create something to control their enemies, and the more enemies they have, the deadlier the weapon in order to get the job done faster… “This has happened because insects, in a triumphant vindication of Darwin’s principle of the survival of the fittest, have evolved super races immune to the particular insecticide used, hence a deadlier one has always to be developed—and then a deadlier one than that… Thus the chemical war is never won, and all life is caught in its violent crossfire” (Carson, Page 26). Most of the world is part of a capitalist society where money is what matters most. Money is needed for food, shelter, comfort, luxury, desires, almost everything. In this materialistic world, money is what determines your place in society. With that type of thought process, humans always find a way to make profit where they have to pay less and charge more. “The choice of aldrin, one of the deadliest of all chemicals, was not determined by any peculiar suitability for Japanese beetle control, but simply by the wish to save money—aldrin was the cheapest of the compounds available” (Carson, Page 106). However it is this exact outlook of being greedy, saving money to make profit, that’s destroying the Earth. “Money won’t solve this. Those idiots that call themselves politicians have buried their heads in the sand and stood for nothing but re-election. So I spent the last two years trying to find a real solution. And I found it” (Kingsman: The Secret Service). Despite people who go around saying they are not greedy, or work for non-profit organizations, ultimately money is the thing that is on their minds as well. Yet at the same time, humans are willing to waste their money on products or services that they have no use for. “We each spend, on average, $2,000 a year on cell phone and Internet usage” (Kingsman: The Secret Service). We don’t care about what we do to the environment as long as we can make money, but
