Last class discussion was very interesting and fun. We all had to watch the movie titled Silver Linings Playbook before the class, and we had to think about the relationship patterns in the movie. The class discussion about the movie and the relationship patterns was really interesting because there were a lot of relationship patterns that I did not catch when I was watching the movie. For example, we talked a lot about the Eagles football team being involved in the triangle with Pat and Pat’s dad, which I thought was a very interesting triangle. Also, it was actually my second time watching the movie and I enjoyed more during this time than the first time because I concentrated more and it was fun to look for the relationship patterns I have learned during the class. Before I did not learn about the relationship patterns, I had no ideas about them and I did not notice them in the movies or in real life. However, after reading and learning about them, I see myself looking for the patterns and thinking about the relationship among the characters and people around me. For example, in the movie, I was able to observe the ‘cut-off’ between Nikki and Pat because of Pat’s violence. There were some similarities found between two families. For example, I am just like Pat when he passed down his anxiety to his parents because I usually do the same thing to my parents, when I get angry or nervous. When I get angry for any reason, I usually express the anger to parents and my parents try to calm me down. I know my act is adding anxiety to my parents and making them uncomfortable because I notice them talking less.
