The methods of government control in “Harrison Bergeron” and 1984 are both similar because, the government in both of the selections creates this fallacious idea of perfection in it’s system to make the people believe that government control is for the better .The government in 1984 brings the people to, “...a general state of scarcity”, which “increases the importance of small privileges”, so people appreciate what they have (Orwell 191).The people have this false image that they have much more than others, when in reality everybody is being deprived of resources; the governments is just making sure that it can implement its rule by making people think that they’re being benefited just because they’re higher than another social class.
