With Hitler’s leadership, the Nationalist Socialist German Worker’s Party became a very large movement and took rule of Germany through totalitarian means. Jack Merridew and his hunters are representative of Hitler and his Nazi Party. This paper will discuss the similarities between Jack and Adolf. What did they offer? What happened to those who opposed Jack and Hitler would be a better question. Jack and the mob “accidentally” killed Simon when he crawled out of the forest. Samneric were tied up and prodded with a spear for not wanting to be with Jack’s tribe, though they reluctantly did join. Jack also allowed for Piggy to be killed when he had shown so much aggression towards Ralph, and fought him. This led to his tribe acting in the same way as their leader, and Roger letting go the large rock, which knocked Piggy off the cliff down to his death. Jack also arranged a hunt specifically set for killing Ralph in an orderly fashion, scouring the island with a row of boys so as to not miss him. If someone was seen as a threat to Hitler, they were arrested. The famous July Bomb Plot of 1944 was a plot by some men to try and kill Hitler. Claus Von Stauffenburg was the man who set off the bomb. The bomb was not successful, and many men faced the People’s Court and were charged with reason. Though one man was given the opportunity to commit suicide rather than suffer the humiliation of public trial. There was also the White Rose, whose leaders were Sophie and Hans Scholl.
