Both John Locke and Adam Smith believe that humans are rational in nature, they are able to make sound judgment without government interference. In fact, they believe the role of government should be limited to provide security, public services and enforcing the law the individuals agree on. The government should not interfere the private life but instead should facilitate and provide only the means and atmosphere free markets could thrive.
