The luck to win a lottery, the luck to be granted three wishes, or the luck to be able to live in a home that can meet your needs. Everyone has their wish for luck. Not everyone seems to be this lucky, but having what we want may not be all rainbows and butterflies. In the three articles, “The Lottery”, “The Monkeys Paw”, and “The Veldt” they all have shown their similarities by demonstrating their solutions to their problem. There was someone dying in the end and their emotions were the same for the parents. The differences that they have all shown are the themes relating to the articles. In the article “The Monkey’s Paw” Mr. and Mrs. White wanted more money and when they discovered they could wish for it, they did, thinking this was their solution to their problem. According to “The Monkey’s Paw” it states, “but I warn you of the consequences”. This relates back to how the articles are similar because once they made the wish, their son had died as a consequence. Mr. and Mrs. White thought they had a solution to their problem, but now their son is dead. In the article “The Veldt” it states, “Mr. Hadley looked at his wife and they turned and looked back at the beasts edging slowly forward, crouching, tails stiff. Mr. and Mrs. Hadley screamed. And suddenly they realized why those other screams sounded familiar.” This quotation shows that since the children didn’t want to have to part from the nursery, they decided to have their parents killed by the lions. All these quotes from the three articles relate back to each other due to the fact that each article shows that their solution was to get what they wanted.
