Simon bolivar was one of the greatest revolutionary leaders in human history. He has helped gain independence for many countries. Many people admired him and wanted him to be their leader and others considered him as a traitor and wanted him dead. Bolivar was born on july 24, 1783 in Caracas to a Venezuelan aristocratic family. Bolivar was very lucky to born into a very rich family that was high in the social pyramid. He had a rough childhood. His father died when he was three years old and later on his mother died when he was nine years old. He lived with his grandparents, and his uncles raised him and took care of him. He had tutors that were one of the best in his time. Simon Rodriguez, a tutor of Bolivar, introduced him to liberal thinking and that affected every decision Bolivar made for the rest of his life. He was later sent to europe to complete his education where he met his wife. When he returned to caracas his wife soon died of yellow fever. The most important of them was the venezuelan independence. Bolivar went to england to get help from the government. During the trip he met a Venezuelan that kickstarted the independence and asked to be a part of the new venezuelan government. In 1811 the first Venezuelan republic “voted for full independence, dropping the farce that they were still loyal to Ferdinand VII”. (About.com) A huge earthquake hit venezuela on march 26 1812. It only hit the parts were most rebellions are happening. This earthquake made people think that this was a sign from god to stop rebelling. Later a royalist domingo monteverde led spanish and royal forces and captured the city of Valencia and many important ports. Miranda , the person Bolivar invited, followed the royal forces to insure his safety. Bolivar was mad at Miranda and arrested him.
