Most employees despise going to work because the boss cares about the customers, and not their well-being. In the video, Sinek explains that “it’s a leader’s responsibility to take care of the people first and the people will take care of each other and the customer.” I believe Sinek is correct, employees have to deal with entitled customers who know that management will be on the customer’s side and not fight for their own people. This isn’t always the case though; many companies do fight for the employee because employees can also be right. In the video, Sinek explains that companies like Southwest Airlines and Costco are well known for their customer service, because they’ve learned that customer doesn’t always come first, their own people do. These big companies have so much respect for how they treat the customers is because they know sometimes the customer is wrong and they know they have to fight for their worker. Many of my friends come with stories on how some of these customers come in with attitude and they can’t do anything about it because they can be written up.
When the employee knows that the management cares about them, they will treat the customer just as well. In the video, Sinek explains he stayed in the Four Seasons and he ran into an employee named Noah. “Noah was wonderful. He was fantastic. He was friendly. He was funny. He was engaging. I think I ended up giving a 100 percent tip.” Noah was a fantastic employee. Sinek remembered everything he did right and even remembered his name.
