While it is possible to witness honorable character traits at any given point in time, nowhere is honorable behavior more visible than in times of tragedy. During times of tragedy, people are forced to endure sorrow, pain, and other extreme misfortunes, which in turn forces them to adapt to their surroundings. Consequently, these events test one’s character, and, as they unfold, one’s true nature is placed on prominent display. One such example of this idea can be found in the work of Sir Nicholas Winton, who is responsible for saving 669 children from the likelihood of being placed in Nazi concentration camps.
