Skaters is the correct term that most teens who skateboard use to describe themselves. Skateboarding is an action sport which involves riding or performing tricks using a board. These people, or skaters, just happen to engage in a sport that is seen by others as a rebellious community. It is not new to the community, but over the years it as carried around this reputation of individuals who are portrayed very negatively. In advertisements, they show the drug users being around skateboarders and always getting into trouble and movies showing the skateboarding images to portray them as dumb characters and burnouts. These negative images and portrayals of skaters are inaccurate that makes their culture sickened. If only people took time to socialize
