Slaughterhouses

Most people never think of the process by which an animal is butchered, or the workers who facilitate the process. “ The horrors that go on in the slaughterhouse are something the meat industry do not want you to know “ ( AID Animals ). Slaughterhouse conditions for animals can be the equivalent to human warfare. Slaughterhouses operate under substandard conditions because workers are ill treated, the environment is unsanitary, and the methods of butchering are cruel to the animals.

Connecticut Law provided us with sanitation information, there is “ no feces within the slaughtering process. ” A case was carried out by Compassion in World Farming to see how sanitary a slaughterhouse really is. Compassion in World Farming stated the conditions of the slaughterhouse were “ hellish. ” Investigators said the facility was “ coated with body parts, feces and layers of blood ”, while investing they noticed other animals having to “ jump over dead bodies and pools of blood as they are herded to the killing floor. ” If an animal tried to flee the slaughterhouse the workers would “ viciously [ beat ] with metal rods and then dragged back in the slaughter line to await death.” ( Force Change ). According to Salon, humane slaughter is the only slaughter allowed anymore because “ humane slaughter became law in the United States ... 1958 Humane Slaughter Act, intended to prevent the “ needless suffering ” of livestock during slaughter. “ ( Salon ). Every animals that is forced tightly into the slaughterhouse is “ hung upside down, shocked into paralysis, having your throat cut, then drowned in hot water...while you’re conscious. “ ( Humane Society of the United States ). Slaughterhouse workers say that the “ uproar [ is ] appalling, perilous to the ear-drums. ” ( AID Aniamls ). According to PETA animals are “ crammed by the thousands into filthy, windowless sheds and confined to wire cages, gestation crates, barren dirt lots, and other cruel confinement systems. ” Slaughterhouse workers use a stun gun which they proceed to “ stun cattle in the head , which causes pain to the cattle. “ The stunning sends electricity through the cattle which will kill them. ( PETA ). When an animal is at the final destination of its’ life; the slaughterhouse they are not provided with any “ food or water.” the animals are “ placed in a crowded areas and are waiting to be slaughter. “ ( Factory Farming ). When the slaughtering processes starts the animals that “ survive [ having ] their throats slit, while they are still conscious. “ will then have to go through the process of “
