Waking up to a child screaming while seeing he or she is sweating as well as whining during his or her sleep, is a very absurd encounter. For a parent, this is a devastating situation; trying to calm the child, but cannot find a solution. The sad fact is that many parents and/ or guardians have to deal with this almost every other night while asking themselves “What is causing this?” or “Why can’t my baby sleep peacefully?” At first, many people believe that the causation would be nightmares, but wrong. The causation would be defined as a sleep terror disorder. When the parent talks to a doctor about this problem, he or she does not give the parent a great deal of information or does not he or she explain it easily enough for understanding. To gain a better insight of what sleep terror disorder is, I will break down the characteristics of one in this text.

Recurrent episodes of rapid awakening from sleep, usually occurring during the first third of the major sleep episode and beginning with a terrified scream. B.
