In 2014 there was a ‘Slender Man’ stabbing case in which two 12-year-old girls were charged for a horrific stabbing of their classmate in order to satisfy a fictional character named ‘Slender Man’. They were to be charged as adults under the Wisconsin law because they were older than ten. Some argued that they were in a “confused mental state or stunted emotional development” because of how detailed their plan was. Their sentences were finally carried out as 25 and 40 years in a mental health institute.
