Although most tobacco users are aware of the grave dangers brought about by smoking, the majority of these people continue to smoke. This begs the question, if smoking can very well kill you, why do so many people smoke to begin with? Indeed, there are many answers to this particular question. The most common answers include the following: it helps relieve stress, smoking is thought to be cool, peer pressure, curiosity and experimentation, social integration, a form of rebellion, oral fixation, weight control/reduction, compensation for a void in one’s life, the allure of self-destruction, et al. At the outset you don’t just smoke because you’re already addicted to it. To tackle an issue properly, one must go back to the root of the problem.
