As we all know advertisements surround out daily life to the extent that they have shaped our daily perspectives and viewpoints. I will be analysing an advert from the social media company Snapchat. This advertisement portrays how the use of “Snapchat” is a social trend that is ubiquitous in the modern day reality. The purpose of this advert is to promote the use of Snapchat and expand attention to the target demographic. The aimed target audience is teenagers/young adults, this is evident from facial expressions that is highlighted through the body language.

I have placed all the elements of the advertisement in a deliberate manner to keep the same “z” shaped advertising structure from the original ad as it was an effective technique to capture the attention of the consumers. Thus, I have chosen to blur the product icon with a sad emotion to convey that Snapchat is not helping to develop a “social” life in the real world. The blur on the product icon creates a notion of everything in life being distorted away which tells the target market clearly, that using Snapchat will really distort your real social life.
As I said earlier advertising is a very, very powerful tool. Things that are actually disabling us to succeed become something that we are a part of due to this influential medium. Naturally consumers change their perspective if they see the same repeated viewpoint being advertised and this will be a successful advert if used in the correct forum.
