Every society has social norms that establish expectations about what types of behavior are appropriate for particular people in certain social situations. Social norms are taught in such a manner that we learn to imitate the covert and overt behavior of the people around us. First, we have the family, which is the primary source of acquiring the norm and then we have friends and the society. Their behavioral patterns, way of thinking, and ethics are absorbed by an individuals’ mind and we try to confine these ideas into ourselves and establish our own patterns of behavior that is in accordance to the standards of the society, the standard to which we say that a behavior is normal.
