I usually said no in this class unless I had to, which is still my answer. I do not want to have control because it will be my fault if something goes wrong. I also learned how power works and the ethical duty to use it wisely. I also learned about my advantages as a Mexican American, like speaking two languages and having some benefits that only some have. Theories Helpful Moving Forward Utilizing the social identity theory and LGBTGIA developmental models could support my advancement. Social identity theory and LGBTGIA developmental models can help us understand how our race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation shape how we see ourselves and interact with others. Understanding who you are in society helps social workers care about and connect with their clients. The LGBTQIA development model helps LGBTQIA people with their sexual orientation and gender identity. It understands the difficulties they may face. This model will help me learn more about the LGBTQ community and provide me with more information as I am a heterosexual woman raised by religious and Hispanic parents. During Donald Trump's presidency, the separation of children from their parents occurred at the border. In America, immigrants were known and perhaps still are known as criminals who are drug dealers, rapists, and a threat to the United States (National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, 2009-2010). Trump has mentioned that before all over the news that immigrants bring economic crisis which is a myth. Not all immigrants are criminals or drug dealers. I want to spread the word that not all immigrants are the same. Becoming an advocate and spreading the word that not all immigrants are the same will help immigrants and America. Finding plans that would work for immigrants, refugees, and the people living in the United States. Strategies One way to learn about this issue is to talk to diverse groups and people. By doing this, we can take accountability and create substantial change. You can seek out nearby organizations that aid people who have relocated to a different country.
