The central meaning to the word socialism is common ownership. This means that the resources of the world, like food and land, would be divided equally among the entire population. One of the good things about socialism is that it creates a society in which everybody will have the right to participate in the social decisions that affect them. (Movement, 2015) We already do this in the United States by giving the citizens the right to vote on laws, sheriffs, the president, etc. I believe that this is a great way to run a country using socialism. Everyone’s voice should be heard and their thoughts should be taken into consideration when making decisions that will have an effect on them. I believe that the United States could benefit from a system like this because if things were done this way nobody would go without. Everyone would have an equal chance of escaping poverty because everyone is given the same thing all of the time. This would also close the gap between the rich and the poor. In socialism, everyone would work for the common cause and no one would be above anyone else. (Theory, 2015) I believe that this would bring our country closer together and create unity. Socialism aims at the creation of a society where all citizens are treated equally and the United States could greatly benefit from being run like that. Education in socialism is expected to be equal also meaning everyone is required to stay in school and receive an education up to a certain level. Where I live this is already a thing, but a person must reach the age of 16 before being legally allowed to quit school. I believe that age shouldn’t matter but grade level. Everyone should be required to complete high school and what they decide to do from there is their choice. Education is very important and should be high up on the country’s totem pole for the country to run
