The Creek Runs Red is a film about a former city in Picher, Oklahoma. The town was known as a major mining town, however with a population under a thousand it can no longer be called that today. The film covers the evolution of Picher’s environmental troubles and the attachments residents hold to the community. Many sociological themes were portrayed through the film, however the three that really stood out the most were the following: the causes and consequences of environmental problems, conflicting perceptions of environmental risk, and environmental remediation. There are many causes as well as consequences of environmental problems. Overpopulation is a huge never-ending human tragedy which is responsible for causing all different types
