Intelligence is a difficult word to define. It does not have a clear cut answer, but instead, has many branches of knowledge that can be explored. One of the most memorable and influential philosophers, named Socrates, was a very knowledgeable man and had many followers, one of which was Plato. Socrates was one who had a love for knowledge and the truths that it held. He once stated that “the only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing” (Socrates). What he is aiming to illuminate is that knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence is something that is eternally sought after. Knowledge does not have an end. There are many debates on the importance of college and whether it is worth the time and money. Contrary to some opinions, college is not just a job training factory, but it is a place where students can be enlightened into a knew realm of knowledge. While college is an institution that provides more opportunities for a career, it also allows one to experience different fields of knowledge, and most importantly …show more content…
In our society, most businesses favor those who have a college degree even if they are not that experienced. Most colleges hold job fairs and have internship connections that help provide careers for the new college graduates. A college degree stands out to employers because it insures them that the applicant has knowledge in a certain field and would need little training. In addition, a degree gives credibility by proving to the employer that the applicant has and will work hard towards goals that are set in front of them. Many people go to college so that they can gain knowledge in the field of their interest and hopefully get a good position in their career. Perhaps to some, the purpose of college is solely to get a degree to insure more money. However, college is not just for careers, it also holds many more opportunities for those who seek
