Sojourner Truth was an American Civil Rights activist and a member of the Women’s Rights Convention. Sojourner Truth was born into slavery. Sojourner Truth was a strong woman in three ways.
First, Sojourner Truth was an African-American abolitionist and women’s rights activist. Truth helped recruit black troops for the Union Army. She was born into and earned her freedom in 1826. After a while she began touring regularly with abolitionist George Thompson speaking to large crowds. She continued touring the state from 1851 to 1853.
Second, she was best known for her speech. The meaning of her speech was to show everyone that colored women did not have equal rights like the white women, it was also to show the world that colored women were not
