She was born in Rifton, NY 1797 and died Nov 26 1883, Battle Creek, MI. She was also the first woman to win a slander suit against a white. Sojourner Truth is my Michigan Hero because she stood up for women’s and black rights. Also, she stood up to Men which required lots of courage.
In May 1851 she attended a women’s right convention and gave a very powerful speech on June 21, 1851 she published a book about her “Ain’t I a woman” speech in 1863.
