The film Dog Day Afternoon tells the story of Sonny Wortzik and his failure to rob a bank in Brooklyn, New York. Sonny was an inexperienced robber and decided to rob a local bank in Brooklyn for the first time. During his attempt, things quickly went wrong and chaos broke loose. Hundreds of police and FBI officers approach the scene as well as the media and spectators. Sonny’s attempted robbery rapidly turned into a 14-hour hostage situation. For hours, the police made deals with Sonny hoping that he would soon retreat and release the victims inside the bank.
