While most people are told to believe that the testing on Bikini was for mutual benefit and the United States would have an advantage for future war. However, the US lacked emotion for the Bikinians from both the cause and effect of this monumental event. On July 1, 1946 Daves Dream took off to Bikini where in a matter of hours would have the first atomic bomb testing, consisting of 6,000 pairs of goggles, 250 ships, 150 aircrafts, 42,000 people, 25,000 radiation counters, 160 journalist, and hundreds of motion picture camera. The world did not know about it yet, but soon the island of Bikini would soon be inhabited forever because of the effects form the bombs and the carelessness of the testing. One such as the overlooked parts of the testing such as the news reports and newspaper articles. They left out key emotions from the Bikinians, they mostly focused on the US Navy and the positive thought of the Bikinians. Their opinion was set on the testing being beneficial, but left out the main characters ideas, feelings, and life. However, this book shows the other side of the situation. In the book Sorry Rinamu and his family must deal with the United States decisions on what was the happen to Bikini. While filming for news papers and the nightly news, they are constantly thrown off from their previous statements for the reporters do not want to hear about the down sides of their million dollar project. “The Bomb” is able to explain the life and the depressing situations, but fails to realizes that this wasn’t a civil act and was only done from the advantage of power that could not be reversed or made up. Bikini will have to deal with what happened to them and learn to accept, this book will not make up for any of the damage done the Bikini atoll of those who inhabited
