Linda mentions how almost nobody showed up, how “all the people he knew” did not show up (Requiem, 110). “Everybody hurts, Take comfort in your friends” (R.E.M) After realization hits Linda, Biff comes in to hold her and comfort her. Taking care of his parents and treating them with respect, especially his father was something he had never done before. After Willy’s death, the family came together to seek comfort in the midst of mourning. In life Willy’s goal was to be successful, but in doing so he drove his family apart. Willy Loman constantly tells himself that his family is perfect and that nothing is wrong with them. He holds back the truth by not telling Linda, his wife, about his affair or losing his job. “Mom, please wake up, Dad's with a sl*t”(Martinez). In a particular scene Biff, his son, catches Willy in the act and can’t help but break down into tears, making him call his father a “phoney little fake!” (Act 2, 95) “Everyone thinks that we're perfect, Please don't let them look through the curtains”(Martinez).
