However this bird is endangered because of habitat loss, invasive species/ predators and natural disasters. As it states in nps.gov southwestern flycatchers have been federally endangered since 1995 and in 2002 only 1100 pairs of flycatchers existed. Fortunately, it has increased to 1299 territories, however one of the reasons flycatchers are endangered is because of riparian habitat loss because we destroy the habitat. This is supported by https://www.nps.gov/articles/southwestern-willow- flycatcher.htm which states that “The major factor in the decline of the southwestern willow flycatcher is likely the alteration/loss of the riparian habitat necessary for the species.” This means that southwestern flycatchers need to live around water since riparian habitats are located along river margins or bodies of water. But when they replace native plants with non-native plants they can change the nesting behavior in the flycatchers and so decrease their population. Luckily we have people who are able to help by creating more riparian habitats by hand and by creating more it creates homes for many more plants and animals. When we alter the habitat it’s not also bad for the many animals but because us humans too, the riparian habitat gives us a lot. We alter the habitat and pollute it as well making the wildlife in the habitat die, making not only the southwestern flycatcher population decrease but it may also decrease human population.
Another reason why the southwestern flycatcher is endangered is because of its many
