Service Delivery/ Intervention: I would move forward with Jacob’s treatment by focusing on building healthy coping mechanisms and solutions. Of the options discussed in this class, I would use the solution focused brief therapy model. I think this would be an appropriate intervention for Jacob’s case, because the approach focuses on the client’s strengths in order to find solutions for positive changes to their future. Highlighting Jacob’s strengths of having positive relationships in school and understanding how the divorce is not his fault can be used to empower him to confront his challenges. Also, the questions I could ask Jacob would allow him to reflect on how his life can be improved and feel confident enough to make that progress.
