Moonrise Kingdom
Moonrise Kingdom is a narrative film in which the writer Wes Anderson tells a romantic love story of two adolescents. Anderson uses different methods such as characters expressions and specific events to portray this in the film. One could compare this film to the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet. While Romeo and Juliet is considered to be a tragic love story, Moonlight Kingdom is a film with comedic overtones and more of a light hearted storyline. I will cite some examples from the movie which clearly show why I consider this a comedic love story.
During the movie there multiple scenes that depict the love story between the main characters Sam and Suzy. One of the earliest scenes this is noticed in is when Sam meets Suzy in the dressing room of the Noahs’s Ark play he is attending. One can draw the conclusion from the dialog and facial expressions that the characters have made a connection from the beginning. A second scene where the love story is evident is when Anderson has Sam and Suzy meeting in the prairie to run away together. Sam and Suzy are showing their love for one another by going to any lengths possible to be with each other. Another scene, which happens to be one of my favorites, is when the rest of the Khaki Scout troop finds Sam and Suzy in the woods and threatens Sam and Suzy if they do not agree to come with them back to headquarters. Sam and Suzy are ready to fight or do whatever it
