Freedom means being able to learn from one’s own mistake. Freedom should allow anyone to speak, think, believe, worship freely and most importantly act as you choose without facing consequences. Sitting Bull, the author of “Speech at Fort Randall” was on the run for a few years in Canada after defeating federal troops under George Armstrong Custer. After 4 years, Sitting Bull reached a point where he and his people were on the brink of starvation. After being held captive in Fort Randall, Bull gives a speech to a journalist informing him that his group including himself fought back because of how Americans drove the Native Americans out of their land that the Great Spirit once gave them.
