Language is considered one of the most difficult task to construct in the human brain. However, there are various effective method of communication that is use to interact with other individuals. A fluency disorder is the inability to speak effortlessly without interruption or disruption of speech sounds. Many people suffer from different types of neurogenic fluency disorders such as dysarthria. A neurogenic speech disorder is the involvement of nervous system impairment which makes it extremely difficult for individuals to communicate to others. Furthermore, through the assessment of speech language pathology they are able to aid dysarthria by providing augmentative/alternative communication such as electronic devices, Lee Sliverman Voice Treatment, which improves the enhancement of speech production and also social support to build confidence to enhance their ability to learn and produce speech function. To begin, dysarthria is a motor speech impairment that affects the ability for people to produce words fluently. Speech language pathologist can aid dysarthria by implementing an augmentative/ alternative communication (AAC) method such as pictures, symbols and electronic devices to assist those with dysarthria in order to converse effectively with others. The use of electronic device can positively impact a motor speech by increasing progress of speech intelligibly. People with dysarthria may have difficulties communicating with people and are often misinterpreted by the person whom receiving the information. There is a disfleuncy in speech that is associated with the complication to communicate. However, verbal communication is not the only way to communicate effectively, there are non verbal communication that consist of gestures, pictures, symbols, electronic devices, etc. Characteristic or specific qualities from dysarthria as a child can differ with those that experience dysarthria as an adult. There are various outcomes with those that experience dysarthria, that can implement treatments to enhance speech production (Levi, 2014). It is primarily the damage in the nervous system that introduces strokes, Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy, ALS which are a few of the many causes that are linked to dysarthria.
