Sports play a huge role in every society because some help the economy thrive and grow while other countries have sports to help grow and develop the younger kids. But when you look at the big picture sports are in everyone’s day-to-day lives whether that being a game you want to watch or a game you didn’t want to watch that was on TV. For example when you are driving down the highway and you see a billboard with a Rays sign up or a Rowdies sign up there but when you or me hear “sports” the first thing that comes to mind is football, baseball, soccer, and softball but many Native North Americans have created and developed different sports as well as the Australian Aboriginals. I would like to introduce the cultural universal, and then look at how each culture influenced or created different sports, finally I will compare and contrast the different sports with the different cultures.

Sports play an important role in our society because they account for so much of our economy with the super bowl producing millions and millions, as well as mass media and political agencies. “By becoming fans, spectators engage in certain kinds of pleasures, fulfilling their own desire through fetishism, voyeurism, and narcissism”(Brummett 21).
