As an obvious issue, it lead to unnecessary crime rates to increase as well as illegal bookies’ income and profit who just so happen to be the real criminals within the activity. As stated by the New Yorker, New Jersey voters wanted to fix this issue. In the year of 2011, the voters ratified an amendment to the state constitution that purposed sports betting to be legal. In 2012, the state legislature endorsed a law to permit sports wagering in New Jersey. Instead of outlawing the entire act and endeavoring to catch mistaken criminals, such as average sports wagering participants, the industry itself would incorporate a regulation to avoid the dangers of gambling. Thus, leaving less measures to be taken concerning unnecessary “criminal” activity claimed by politicians. If sports gambling was legal, prosecutors and police officers will be able to investigate more crimes that earn expected attention and disciplinary action.
