Spotlight falls under the category of a drama film, because we see the journalists’ struggle trying to uncover the truth as well as dealing with their own troubles of following a faith that allows such behavior to continue. Most people in Boston are Catholic, and the journalists are no different, all but one of the Spotlight team members was raised catholic and they are all seen struggling to both keep their faith, but not let it blind them from the horrors that were allowed to continue within the church. The team uncovers approximately ninety priests and hundreds of victims ranging in ages from four years old and up, all within the city of Boston. As a result of these discoveries, some the journalists decide to renounce their faith while others who were lapsed Catholics decide to simply continue to not practice their faith. Although I don’t think this film pushed any boundaries for the drama genre, I found the end particularly interesting. At the very end the movie posts more facts about the real case involving the catholic church scandal in Boston, and then lists other locations that have also been sights where priests have been accused of sexual misconduct with minors, what was interesting to me was that the archdiocese that oversees my church back home was a part of that
