I appreciate Squaires and Kubrin (2004) article mentioned about how different places, race and privileges shaped the structure of some metropolitan areas (p.48). They also found evidence in some public policies such as access to health care and housing assistance that contribute to this racial segregation. This article enabled me to understand the different lens that we can used to analyze the causes of uneven structure in some metropolitan areas. That is, on the influence of race, places and privileges or when individuals choices are based on their budget. For the latter, they need to adjust themselves to their new neighborhood whether or not they will join the minority or dominant race.
