The fall of our first parents, Adam and Eve, resulted in the loss of preternatural gifts they were created with. Christ as the “new Adam” (cf. Romans 5:14; 1 Cor 15:4) came to make possible once again for us to share in the divine nature (CCC, 460). Also, the coming of Jesus, especially His paschal mystery saves us from sin and enables us to his own sonship and divine life.
