There is a large gap between reality and science fiction. Reality tells us that even the closest of stars are incomprehensibly far away, and would require an absurd amount of energy and time to make the voyage. Reality continues to tell us that the ship needed for this journey would have to withstand hundreds or even thousands of years, while generation after generation of astronauts are born, live their lives and die in route to another star. The wonderful thing about science fiction is that it gives us humans the ability to dream up other ways to travel the galaxy, much like Star Trek when ships crank it up to warp speed and watch stars streak past them with ease. But, what if it could be that easy? Not referring to superfast space ships of course but, what if a magical gateway that connects two points in space and time with another existed. Well, it is here where we go in depth on one of the world’s most intriguing topic: Wormholes. …show more content…
Thus, hypothetically, you could travel instantaneously from one place to another. For example, in the 2009 remake of the movie Star Trek, James T. Kirk and his crew aboard the USS Enterprise as they take on Nero and his army of men. Nero, a “Romulan,” gets accidently stuck in a wormhole while in combat with Starfleet. The movie creates a relatively accurate simulation of the wormhole as Nero goes through one end and goes out the other with hundreds of years going by in the process. This simulation is what physicists hope to achieve by creating these
