This statement is introduced in Jerry Spinellie’s story Stargirl. The author introduces a new student to a small school in Arizona, the Electrons. At first she struggles to make friends but soon becomes the most popular girl in school, but loses it just as fast and becomes shunned along with her boyfriend Leo. Through his character, Spinelli teaches the reader that just because someone acts differently or wears different clothes, it doesn't mean they are not a person.
