Stephen King's The Body And Shawshank Redemption

Reading over the 22 reasons Stephen King wrote it was really eye opening because everything he said was right and made sense to me. I think a lot of the reasons he gave connected with both of the stories, The Body, and Shawshank Redemption. Both of those stories were very emotional and had a lot of meaning to them and I think Stephen King really does well with reaching out to his readers in his books.

“Don't waste time trying to please people”. Is one of the 22 reasons from Stephen King that I think connects with Shawshank Redemption. The main character Andy Dufresne was a good guy that liked to help people and make everyone happy, but when he found out that he was being used to do illegal things for the warden he finally said enough was enough and started looking at for himself. I think what Stephen meant that you shouldn’t waste your time on trying to make everyone happy because life is too short and at the time Andy didn’t really have much of a life in prison. “Yeah. This the second reason I found that I think connects with one of the books we read this year. The Body, is a book that is about 5 young boys who go on a journey to find a boy who died by getting hit by a train. There was one boy who really stood out to me and also relates to one of the reasons Stephen King wrote. His name was Teddy Duchamp and loved to take risks. Some of his friends thought he was crazy because he would risk his life for the thrill of it. All of the boys had a very special bond that was indescribable. I think Teddy will never change because he just loves the thrill of taking unnecessary risks. “This is my age! I'm in the prime of my youth, and I'll only be young once!” Teddy always had the mindset of ‘“you only live once” and I think that’s very courageous of him because usually people play it safe and follows the social norm, and I think it’s amazing how crazy Teddy
