Introduction: Times are changing, every day it seems that there is a new and improved version of something that took the world by storm. It is often hard for millennials like myself to try to imagine what the world was like before technology. I have never really been exposed to the behind the scenes production of creating brilliant photographs. I believe that the culture behind it has changed a lot. Young individuals are starting to incorporate their own creativity of producing a photograph and mixing in the technology that we are accustomed to. Whether it is an app that can change the brightness or blur out certain parts or to full on remove obstructions in images. Directly from the dictionary, the word ethical means “of or relating to moral principles or the branch of knowledge dealing with these (1)”. That definition can be interpreted many different ways which is why it brings up a lot of controversy. I believe that the use of Photoshop on McCurry’s photographs do not take away from the shocking and sometimes difficult facts that he is trying to portray. When traveling the world, it is hard not to notice the difference of wealth, health care and culture. When Steve McCurry captures his images, he is spreading awareness, emotion and perspective with the viewer. I believe that regardless of the photo being edited it still shows the same meaning.
