On December 18, 1964 in King William's Town, Eastern Cape, South Africa, Bantu
Steve Biko was born. His Father was clerk and his mother was a maid. Biko’s father died when he was only 4 years old. Steven attended Marian hill, and graduated and went on to study medicine at the University of Natal. He studied medicine from 1966 to 1972. Although he enjoyed the medicine field , he was fascinated with politics. His goal was to get all black people to come together as one and unite.
Steve Biko was a noted antiApartheid activist in South Africa in the 1960s and 1970s.
Biko was a courageous and very intelligent. He wanted to end the racism in the white government of South Africa also known as apartheid. His confidence , helped him illustrate great writing skills. South African Student Organization was cofounded by Steven Biko in 1968.
After the founding of this organization , he lead Black Consciousness Movement in South
Africa. In 1973, Biko was told no to practice his apartheid routine. He wasn't allowed to write or speak publicly, to talk with media spokesperson or to speak to more than one person at a time, and other limitation.
