The Science of Lynching In the book “Freakonomics” by Steven D Levitt and Stephen J Dubner, the controversial topic of lynching is treated in a “matter of fact” like way. The authors disregard most emotion in these situations and just give the audience facts. This is seen when they are talking about statistics related to lynching. “Consider lynching, the Klan’s hallmark sign of violence. Here, compiled by the Tuskegee Institute, are decade by decade statistics on the lynching” (page 56). Like stated previously the diction and tone are simply factual, with no regards to emotion.
