Unless we have a strong personal integrity and values in our lives and claim constantly the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives one can easily fall victim to this evil behavior in our society. Whenever people are given power, they have the opportunity to abuse it. It is the responsibility of the community, the church to provide safeguards to protect against abuse.
What are your commitments to stewarding boundaries in ministry?
I am a workaholic. I am passionate about my ministry and enjoy what I do immensely. My husband calls me church mouse. By nature I am compassionate and giving. It is very hard for me to say no. During my first call I accepted a half time call as I was recovering from cancer surgery and still under treatments in a rural congregation. Though it was half time for salary reasons clergy duties required full time attention. I did not have a church secretary. I worked full time commuting an hour each day. I also neglected my time at home.

I am going to be more intentional in my commitments to stewarding boundaries. Some of them are, maintain a healthy balance between meeting the needs of the congregation and those of the family. Establish God-honoring and grace-based boundaries to avoid the issue of burnout or even compassion fatigue. Both maladies keep us from performing at peak levels and limit our ability to generate growth in our relationships and our churches.
It is not essential to attend the various meetings of the church, I often place that demand on myself.
Stewarding time is very important which I am still not able to balance well. When I worked in the university it was easy since my husband and I had same schedules. Now my weekends are busy. I looked at my last year’s calendar and realized I did not take all my vacation time. I plan to balance my time this year as a good steward of my time.
How are you already putting these things into practice in your life right
