Good evening, fellow students and staff members of Stewart Middle Magnet! It’s an honor to speak to all of you here, at the 8th grade end-of-the-year banquet. Everyone has undoubtedly grown over the year, with each of you producing fruitful results. Middle school’s hard, I understand. It was made by people as a sort of bridge, from elementary school, where you learn the basics, to high school, where you learn the skills for your future job. Middle school is sandwiched in between. It gives us opportunities to enhance our self-esteem and introduces us to the concept of… wait for it… responsibility. Stewart has helped each and everyone of you build your competence for high school. So, I encourage you to go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back for making it to the end of the year.

These were the adults who changed our lives, the masters who guided our learning and taught us what we needed to know. These were the math, English, science, history, art, P.E., etc., teachers who spent most of their days here at Stewart, establishing a plan to teach us. They take their time, and spend time for us, both at school and at home to help us learn. Every. Single. Day. These are our teachers, whom we should never forget. Then of course, you have your friends. They always stand by us, the torch held in the dark, the sweet in our ice cream, the spice in our snack, the light of our candle. All those days you didn’t feel well, you had a shoulder to cry on. All those days you had a secret, you had someone to share it with. All those days you felt good, you had fun with them. If there was anything else that could not be forgotten when we move on, it was our friends. I hope all of you had beautiful memories with both your teachers and your
