Some believe that it was the Druids who built and worshiped at Stonehenge, but new evidence suggests that Stonehenge predated the Druids by thousands of years. Originally, it was believed that Stonehenge was a temple that belonged to the Druids based on certain discoveries found near and around the site that were thought to date back to their time. Now, we know that Stonehenge is actually much older than the Celtic society from where the Druids came sometime around 300 B.C. (Becker). Bluestones are smaller stones located on the inside ring of massive sarsen stones. It is said that bluestones were brought from the Preseli hills in Wales, a place where there are springs thought to be holy wells and therefore has led people to believe in the bluestones healing power. Pieces of bluestone have been found chipped off and it is believed that people used the chips of bluestone to heal themselves. Also, many bodies have been dug up around Stonehenge with many injuries that in those times would have gone untreated or would have not been able to be treated due to lack of knowledge and experience. The fact that these bodies were found has led to the assumption that many traveled to Stonehenge seeking its healing powers. Stonehenge is not a place of healing because there is not enough evidence to prove that the bodies found were not actually originally from the Stonehenge region
