During the seventeenth and eighteenth century in the British colony there were slave revolts that influenced the law including the Stono Rebellion. During the seventeen hundreds there were double the number of slaves than white people and this caused the Stono Rebellion. The Stono Rebellion in 1739 was where slaves burned down plantations and killed about 20 white people on the way to the Spanish refugee. They did this because there were laws in place in Florida where any slave who made it to Florida would be freed.
