When comparing the cultural values and rules of behavior within the Deaf community versus that of the hearing in the US, it is unconventional to say that both community’s response to a situation would be the same. Many interpretations and perspectives of an event can form for both communities in a variety of different paths. Posted on October 11, 2017, by a google account, which is named Melow Meldrew, the video blog titled Stop Shooting Deaf people…, which publicized efforts in resolving a conflict between members of the hearing and Deaf community. The terrifying incident that was a major point of the discussion involves a Deaf man and a police officer. Sanchez is extremely important in order to prevent another recurrence of such a terrifying account. According to Chris Bucher, a blogger on the heavy news account, Mr. Sanchez (35 y/o Deaf and mentally challenged) walked towards the officers on September 22, 2017, with a metal pipe in his hands. Bucher reports on the blog that the police were said to be responding to a hit and run and had reports that Mr. Sanchez’s father was the driver of the vehicle involved in the past incident. Bucher also reports that neighbors tried their best, shouting to the police that Mr. Sanchez was Deaf when he was walking towards the police. Bucher had also reported that Mr. Sanchez usually carried a metal stick to fend off dogs in the area who threatened him. Viewing this account with more details from witnesses of the incident helps show that the event was an unfortunate and could have been avoided if both Mr. Sanchez and the police understood that he was Deaf and that the police were just doing their job and staying
